Bethel’s History major: economics emphasis is designed to prepare you for a career as a teacher of history and specifically prepares you to seek licensure to teach history in grades 7 through 12. However, it can also serve as a great foundation for law school or other graduate programs or for any career path you choose.
As you work toward a bachelor of science degree, you’ll get a good mix of general courses which will best prepare you for any career. You’ll also be able to choose from all types of history topics including human culture, U.S. history, American parties and politics, the history of philosophy, the history of Christianity, the history of the South, the history of Europe and any number of individualized courses in which you may have an interest. If you do plan to seek licensure in history (7-12), you will minor in professional education.

Whether you intend to further your studies in law school or other graduate programs, or whether you intend to work as an archivist or historian, this selected group of courses will serve as an excellent foundation for building your career.
You can choose between a bachelor of arts or a bachelor of science degree depending on your career plans or depending on which course of study most interests you.
