The Music Education major is designed to prepare you to seek licensure in music education and to teach either vocal or general music to children in grades kindergarten through twelve. The program can also help you prepare to teach music in the private sector.
One of Bethel’s greatest fortes is its many opportunities that have been created for music majors and those who are simply interested in music. Many students from different fields of study take part in programs like the Bethel Chorale, Chamber Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble, and Renaissance, the Bethel Performing Arts Experience, a program that encompasses all facets of performing arts including vocal performance, instrumental music and dramatic performance. Each of these groups will offer you the chance to get the most out of Bethel’s music program, and you’ll receive ensemble credit toward your music education major with most of these programs. As a Music Education major, you’ll also get the chance to participate in theatre performances including plays, musicals and even opera workshops.
Many Bethel graduates share stories about how their time here inspired them to change the world for the better. The Bethel community does offer a unique blend of academic and life experiences that fuels such inspiration. In addition to just getting the chance to be inspired, this added value to your undergraduate education means you will stand out among other graduates who simply have a music education degree.
