Sociology
Bethel’s Sociology Major is designed to expose you to the most recent scientific knowledge relative to family, criminology, social stratification and gender, and it will prepare you for work in health and human services, law, business, communications and higher education. Bethel’s Sociology program will also provide you with a great foundation for graduate work in many of the same fields as well.

In our Sociology program, you’ll learn how to conduct research, how to read and critique the research of others, and how to interpret theory that guides that research. Our enthusiastic faculty will encourage you to attend undergraduate symposia where you’ll have the chance to meet with sociology majors from other institutions and where you’ll also have the chance to present research papers and network with potential employers and graduate faculty from programs across the nation. Throughout this process you’ll realize the truths about many of the myths and assumptions that are commonly held about the social world.

For years, the Bethel community has generated a unique blend of academic and life experiences that fuels the inspiration you’ll need to be successful after graduation. Not only will you be inspired to work hard and achieve your career goals, but you will be inspired to look for ways your work can positively change the world. In an extremely competitive job market, this unique component will set you apart as someone with so much more than simply a sociology degree.
