Master of Arts in Education Degree Program description and procedure for International student applications.
The program of study
The M.A.Ed. degree program consists of twelve courses totaling 36 semester hours of credit. Students may complete the degree within twelve months. This program is designed for people who are teachers and welcomes people who are not teachers. While the program includes much of the course work needed for teacher preparation, it is not a complete program for training new teachers. Future dates for enrollment are June and July 2006. Contact the graduate department for the exact dates.
Cost of the program
For students who enroll on the above dates, the total cost of the program is $22,900 USD. The cost for bringing a husband or wife is $7000 for the year; the cost for a child is $5000. Bethel College will not accept a child younger than 12 years old. The total cost must be paid before the student arrives. For enrollments after the July 2006 term, the cost will be somewhat higher.
Services provided
The program cost includes all tuition, all textbooks, graduation fees, bedding and bath linens, a notebook computer, and a telephone. (Students pay for long-distance and overseas telephone calls.) Bethel College provides housing and meals as part of the program cost. The program cost also includes limited tutoring in course assignments as well as limited entertainment in McKenzie. Some trips to other locations will be offered with the student paying expenses on the trip. Students must be able to study in written and spoken English. We can offer limited tutoring in English language and class assignments, and our instructors are helpful, but we cannot help students who cannot study in English. There is no ESL program at Bethel College. Transportation will be provided between Bethel College and the airport in Nashville or Memphis upon first arrival and at the end of the stay at Bethel, at no cost to the student. Students will pay the driver for other trips to the airport.
