Post-Baccalaureate Licensure and Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.)

The Post-Baccalaureate Licensure/M.A.T. Degree program serves college graduates from fields other than education who have the capability and commitment to prepare for a successful career in classroom teaching. After successful completion of this program, you may be licensed at the Master’s level to teach in public and private schools of Tennessee.

Important information about this option

Because of licensing requirements, the Post-Baccalaureate Licensure/M.A.T. is a more involved program with general background requirements, teaching major requirements, and the professional education block for your teaching area. The number of hours varies depending on which teaching area you choose and which requirements can be covered by courses from your prior transcripts.

Student Teaching

This program includes one semester of full-time student teaching.
