Dr. John Caterina, biology:

§         published “Prepulse inhibition and fear-potentiated startle are altered in tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-2 (TIMP-2) knockout mice” in Brain Research

§         published “Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-2 (TIMP-2)-deficient mice display motor deficits” in Journal of Neurobiology.

 

Dr. Alan Cross, music:

  • took 15 students to sing at Epcot Center’s American showcase pavilion, Walt Disney World, Orlando, FL.

 

Kristi Corbin, psychology:

  • took 5 students to Race, Repression, and Reconciliation: Berea College Symposium on the Black Experience in Appalachia and America, Berea College
  • took 2 students to a conference on Down’s Syndrome and Autism, Vanderbilt University
  • published **

 

Mr. Randolph Day, accounting:

  • attended Tennessee Society of Accounting Educators workshop, Nashville, TN.

 

Stacie Freeman, sociology:

  • took 5 students to Race, Repression, and Reconciliation: Bearea College Symposium on the Black Experience in Appalachia and America, Berea College
  • presented student research, Alabama-Mississippi Sociological Association annual meeting, University of Mississippi
  • lectured regarding effective stress management for professionals, Tennessee Technology Center, Paris, TN
  • selected for inclusion in the 2007 Edition of Who’s Who Among American Women

 

Mr. Bill Hetrick, business and Marion Graham, theatre:

  • presented “Race, Gender, and Class in Theatrical Literature; Four Plays by Rebecca Gilman”, Rethinking Marxism Conference, University of Massachusetts.    

 

 

 

Mr. Tim Lindsey, human services:

  • arranged for 9 students to participate in off-campus learning opportunities

 

Dr. Janet Reid, education:

  • took 3 students to participate in Lobby Day, Nashville, TN

 

Dr. Sarah Roberts, biology;  Dr. Joshua Roberts, history; Dr. Scott Cunningham, biology; Dr. Tom Brown, PA ; and Dr. Tom Hisiro, education:

  • held Q&A Session with students regarding graduate school.

 

Dr. Sarah Roberts, biology:

  • published “Desert mistletoe (Phoradendron californicum) infestation correlates with blue palo verde (Cercidium floridum) mortality during a severe drought in the Mojave Desert” in the Journal of Arid Environments. 

 

Kathy Sacks, art:

  • published “Families and school personnel involved in a literacy and physical activity partnership” in Reading Improvement.
  • presented “Boys and Reading: How Teachers and Parents Can Make a Difference:  How to help boys become life-long readers” accepted for the Plains Regional Conference of the International Reading Association.

 

Dr. Joe Sam, chemistry, and Dr. Jane Hardin, chemistry:

§         took students to the American Chemical Society/Kentucky Lake Section meeting, Murray State Hancock Biological facility

 

 

 

Dr. James Scruton, English:

§         published poems in The Louisville Review, Spire, Mid-America Poetry Review, Buckle, Elysian Fields Quarterly, and The Teacher’s Voice

§         conducted Cumberland Presbyterian Publications Board Writing Workshop

§         conducted Carroll Arts Inc. Writing Workshop

§         attended Palm Beach Poetry Workshop, West Palm Beach, FL

§         attended Jesse Stuart Writing Symposium, Murray State University

§         attended Council of Independent Colleges Conference for Division and Department Chairs, St. Louis, MO

William Shelton, spanish and english:

§         attended Palm Beach Poetry Workshop, West Palm Beach, FL

 

Irina Smith, mathematics:

§         completed Master of Science in Mathematics at Murray State University

 

Dr. Jesse Turner, mathematics:

§         presented lecture on cryptology to CIS and Mathematics students, Bethel College

§         presented lecture on cryptology to the Kentucky Lakes Section of the American Chemical Society

 

Kathy Winchester, education:

  • attended the Tennessee Reading Association Conference
  • attended the Tennessee Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (TACTE) conference.

 

Randell Wolff, English:  

  • completed Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language, Murray State University
  • joined the Modern Language Association and the state and international chapters of TESOL.
