With a population of 5,200, McKenzie, Tennessee provides a cozy, small-town atmosphere to its residents and it is perfectly located between a number of larger metropolitan areas and outdoor recreation areas.
McKenzie is only 45 minutes from Jackson, Tennessee, which has all kinds of shopping, eating and entertainment venues. It is also only 120 miles from both Memphis and the state capitol, Nashville, where many more opportunities exist. Kentucky Lake, which is Tennessee’s largest lake, is just a short drive from McKenzie as well. There, you can enjoy various types of water recreation.
You really don’t even have to travel outside of McKenzie to enjoy all kinds of activities.
Carroll Lake is just across town from Bethel. One of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s family lakes, it offers excellent fishing and outdoor opportunities for all ages. It has a store, a boat ramp, boat rentals and a lovely picnic area.
McKenzie’s City Park also offers recreational facilities. You can feed the ducks at the pond, or even go fishing there. A host of all kinds of playground equipment can make you feel like a kid again. There’s also a covered pavilion area for picnics and other special events.
McKenzie is also home to
Carroll Lake Golf Course. This is a public, 18-hole golf course located near Carroll Lake. There is an on-site pro-shop and clubs are available for rent. You can also take advantage of scheduled lessons offered at the course.
Bobo’s Driving Range also offers golf recreation. It is located just past Carroll Lake on Highway 22.
McKenzie even has a
New Age Skin Care and Spa where you can be pampered with facials, massages, manicures, pedicures and many other relaxing spa treatments.
McKenzie has a number of fast-food restaurants as well as family buffet-style restaurants. There are also two Mexican restaurants, a Chinese restaurant and several pizza eateries.
McKenzie Regional Hospital is just minutes from Bethel’s campus. It offers 24-hour emergency and ambulance service, and family practice and internal medicine doctors are available to serve you.
